Kylee Hodges : “Kansas Woman Shot by Police Confesses to Killing Son”

SEDGWICK COUNTY —A woman from Kansas has admitted to the tragic killing of her 14-year-old son in a disturbing incident that led to a tense standoff with law enforcement at her apartment in Wichita.

On Thursday, Kylee Hodges, aged 43, from Wichita, entered a guilty plea for the charge of first-degree murder in relation to the shooting death of her son, Claude Hodges Jr., as confirmed by The Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.

The tragic events unfolded on the evening of January 28th when police responded to a welfare check call from the boy’s father at an apartment located at 8405 W. Central in Wichita.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a bullet hole in the apartment’s exterior wall and a discharged bullet near the entrance, prompting them to take swift action.

Upon entering the apartment, officers encountered Kylee Hodges brandishing a handgun, with a shotgun also within reach. Negotiations ensued, and a tactical team was called in to assist in the situation.

After several hours of discussions and attempts to peacefully resolve the standoff, Hodges suddenly picked up the handgun and advanced towards the officers, prompting them to open fire. Tragically, it was later discovered that the teenager had been fatally shot in a bedroom within the apartment.
