Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A tragic incident occurred near the tri-state border at Kuppam, where a 50-year-old man, identified as Kanna Naik, was trampled to death by a lone tusker on Sunday. Naik, a resident of PMK Thanda in Ramakuppam mandal, was a farmer by occupation.

According to eyewitnesses, Naik was on his way to PMK Thanda from Diguva Thanda when the tusker attacked him, causing fatal injuries. This unfortunate event has sparked outrage among locals and farmers, who are demanding immediate action from the state government to prevent such tusker attacks, which have become a recurring problem in Kuppam and other parts of Chittoor district.

Over the past five years, tusker attacks and related deaths have been on the rise, yet little has been done by the authorities to address this escalating issue. Despite several meetings held by the forest departments of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka in the past, no concrete measures have been implemented to effectively tackle the tusker menace.

The lack of proactive steps to prevent tusker attacks has left the community vulnerable and in fear of such incidents. The escalating human-elephant conflict requires immediate attention and robust strategies to ensure the safety of residents in the affected areas.

As the residents mourn the loss of Kanna Naik and demand justice for his untimely death, it is crucial for the authorities to take swift action and implement sustainable solutions to mitigate the risks posed by tusker attacks in the region.
