Accident – Death – Obituary News :
An 18-year-old man in Cebu City is currently recovering in a hospital after allegedly being shot by his friend in a dispute over unpaid drug debts. The incident took place in Sitio White Road, Barangay Inayawan on Sunday morning, June 16, 2024.
The victim, identified as Joseph Balansag, a resident of the area, sustained a gunshot wound to the neck during the altercation.
The suspect, Jason Alfuro, who is of legal age and unemployed, is also a resident of the same area and a friend of the victim. According to the investigation conducted by the Inayawan Police Station, the shooting occurred as the victim was walking home, and the suspect unexpectedly appeared and fired a gun at him.
Following the attack, the victim managed to flee to his house and seek help from his parents. Authorities are looking into the victim’s alleged involvement in illegal drugs as a possible motive for the shooting.
Police Investigation
Police Major Jiceree Basitao, chief of the Inayawan Police Station, revealed that their investigation suggests the suspect was selling illegal drugs and became enraged with the victim for failing to pay the full amount owed for the drugs due to their friendship.
An ongoing hot pursuit operation is currently underway to apprehend the suspect in connection with the shooting incident.
