FARGO (KFGO) – A resident of Fargo found himself in police custody after allegedly breaking into a home and attempting to flee from authorities in the early hours of Monday morning.

Authorities were alerted to the incident just before 2 a.m. when a disturbance was reported at a residence in the 900 block of College Street North. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a window had been broken to gain entry into the property, with the suspect allegedly trying to make off with valuables.

Despite a brief pursuit on foot by law enforcement, the suspect managed to evade capture, prompting the deployment of a perimeter and a K-9 unit to track down the individual. The pursuit led officers to the vicinity of Johnson Park, several blocks south of the North Dakota State University campus.

After an intensive search, the suspect, later identified as 49-year-old Jason Giemza, was apprehended in the 400 block of 11th Street North. Giemza was subsequently taken into custody and is currently being held at the Cass County Jail on charges including burglary, resisting arrest, and failure to comply with police instructions.
