In Kansas City, Missouri, a man is currently recuperating after a confrontation with an alleged shoplifter led to a visit to the hospital.
Authorities in Platte County have pressed charges against 23-year-old Jacky O. Shariff for second-degree robbery and fourth-degree assault.
According to legal documents, Shariff attempted to steal over £600 worth of goods from a Target store on North Ambassador Drive last Friday afternoon.
Eyewitnesses informed the police that Shariff, who was later identified, tried to exit the Target premises with a cart full of unpaid items.

A loss prevention officer intervened, but Shariff allegedly pushed the officer against a wall before fleeing the store.
Police detectives reviewed store surveillance footage which purportedly showed Shariff loading the stolen items into a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
One witness captured Shariff on video in the parking lot. As the witness walked away, Shariff allegedly aimed the Jeep at him deliberately, driving onto the curb to strike the man.
Authorities tracked down the Jeep using a license plate reader half an hour later. The description of the driver matched the one provided by witnesses, leading to the detention and subsequent identification of Shariff.
Another team of officers visited a hospital in Kansas City to interview the injured witness.

The victim, who sustained injuries, required 18 staples to the back of his head and 12 stitches to his right knee.
During the investigation, the victim disclosed that he had kicked the side mirror of the Jeep before being struck.
In a police interrogation, Shariff purportedly confessed to shoplifting due to financial constraints. He claimed to have pushed the loss prevention officer in retaliation and stated that he struck the witness because he was obstructing his path.
