Accident – Death – Obituary News : Israeli security forces have apprehended a 17-and-a-half-year-old resident from the northern region of the country on suspicion of planning to join ISIS in Somalia, according to a recent announcement by the Israel Police. The young male, hailing from the predominantly Muslim village of ‘Ara northeast of Hadera, was taken into custody by officers of the police’s Coastal District along with the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet).
Authorities disclosed that the suspect had meticulously prepared to join ISIS, which included drafting a will, gathering funds, applying for a foreign passport, and engaging with “hostile elements” online. This arrest comes amidst a series of thwarted terrorist plots linked to ISIS following the recent conflict initiated by Hamas against Israel on October 7.
In a separate incident in April, four individuals from eastern Jerusalem, who had pledged allegiance to ISIS, were indicted in an Israeli court. Two of the accused had planned an attack on a police station near the Teddy sports stadium in the capital. Prior to this, Israeli security personnel had detained four Palestinians who were plotting ISIS-inspired assaults against troops in Judea and Samaria.
On January 22, security forces intercepted an ISIS-inspired attack near the Knesset in Jerusalem, preventing a potentially catastrophic event. Earlier in the year, ISIS spokesperson Abu Huthaifa al-Ansari had urged supporters worldwide to target Jews in retaliation for the actions of the Israel Defense Forces against Hamas militants in Gaza.
