Accident – Death – Obituary News :
A tragic incident occurred in Swakopmund on Sunday, resulting in the death of a 29-year-old man, Fimaneka Katjatako. Katjatako was walking back home with a friend after escorting his girlfriend to the DRC informal settlement when the unfortunate incident took place.
According to Erongo police spokesperson Chief Inspector Ileni Shapumba, Katjatako was confronted by two men on his way home. The men demanded to speak to him, but Katjatako reportedly declined, leading to a confrontation between him and one of the suspects.
During the altercation, the suspect pulled out a sharp object and struck Katjatako once on the upper chest near the neck, causing a deep and fatal wound. Despite efforts from the friend who was accompanying him to stop the fight, the suspects managed to flee the scene.
Katjatako managed to stumble towards his residence for about 50 meters before collapsing on his stomach. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The murder weapon was not found, and the authorities have notified the victim’s next of kin.
Following the incident, a 23-year-old man was handed over to the Swakopmund police by his mother in connection with the murder. Police investigations are ongoing to gather more information and evidence related to the case.
