The unfortunate event took place while Chiruthakutty was moving soil with the help of a JCB for the construction of a house on her nearby plot.
The fatal accident unfolded as a massive palm tree toppled over, first hitting a jackfruit tree before crashing down on Chiruthakutty, who was standing in the courtyard at the time. Despite immediate efforts to rescue her, the elderly woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
The entire community is in shock and mourning over the loss of Chiruthakutty, a beloved member of the neighbourhood known for her kindness and warmth.
