Caitlyn Rock : WCSD Employee Faces Court for Student Assault

A Washoe County School District staff member, Caitlyn Rock, who has been accused of student sexual assault, is scheduled to make a court appearance on Monday afternoon for a bail hearing. The allegations against Rock include several counts of sexual assault of a minor and statutory sexual seduction.

Earlier this month, the Reno Police Department received a report from a 14-year-old boy claiming to have been in a sexual relationship with a 46-year-old woman, later identified as Caitlin Rock. Rock is employed at Billinghurst Middle School, as listed on the WCSD website under the support staff category as Intervention.

The case was transferred to the RPD Sex Crimes/Child Abuse Unit, and Rock was subsequently arrested after interviews with both her and the victim. The investigation into the matter is currently ongoing.

A spokesperson from the Washoe County School District released a statement addressing the allegations against Rock. The statement reads:

“The Washoe County School District (WCSD) is appalled by these allegations and has not been privy to the details of the criminal investigation. This alleged behavior is reprehensible and not representative of our employees, schools, or district. Ms. Rock is not currently under contract with WCSD as the contracts for educational support professionals end today. The district will follow due process proceedings moving forward. WCSD is fully cooperating with the Reno Police Department in its ongoing criminal investigation.
