CLEVELAND — Bionca Ellis, the 33-year-old woman accused of killing 3-year-old Julian Wood in a double stabbing outside of a Giant Eagle in North Olmsted, is scheduled to appear in court for another hearing today.
The case has been assigned to Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge John Russo, with a pretrial conference set for 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Ellis Faces Multiple Charges
Ellis, who is currently being held on a $5 million bond, made her first court appearance last week. She pleaded not guilty to a range of charges, including:
- Aggravated murder
- Two counts of murder
- Two counts of attempted murder
- Two counts of felonious assault
- Endangering children
- Tampering with evidence
- Misdemeanor theft
During her initial hearing on June 10, Ellis, who turned 33 on June 11, appeared via video and at times was seen smiling as the judge discussed the case. She did not answer many of the questions posed to her by Judge Nancy Margaret Russo.
Details of the Case
The incident took place on June 3 outside a Giant Eagle in North Olmsted, where Julian and his mother, Margot Wood, were stabbed in the parking lot. Julian succumbed to his injuries, while Margot is expected to make a full recovery.
Police responded to the scene and found Ellis walking with a knife towards Dover Center Road. She was apprehended without incident. Authorities believe the attack was a random act of violence, as Ellis had no prior contact with the victims.
Emotional Testimony from Julian’s Father
Julian’s father made a poignant statement in court last week, expressing the devastation caused by the loss of his son. He urged the court to keep Ellis behind bars, stating, “There’s nothing that could ever replace my son or anything that my wife and I, even our other kids, are going through. It’s horrendous. I really wish no bail. Period. Or extend it to the maximum limit possible that you can, at the very least. Just do whatever you can to keep this monster behind bars.”
