Accident – Death – Obituary News : Virginia State Police are currently conducting an investigation into a tragic fatal collision that occurred on Saturday afternoon, June 15, at around 3:45 p.m. The incident unfolded on Route 122 in Franklin County, specifically just two-tenths of a mile north of Route 950.
Authorities reported that a 2014 Chrysler 200 was travelling north on Route 122 when it veered across the centre line and crashed head-on into a 2016 Toyota Tundra.
The driver of the Chrysler has been identified as 26-year-old Austin Lee Lawhorn from Moneta, Va. Despite wearing his seatbelt, Lawhorn tragically lost his life at the scene of the collision.
The 38-year-old female driver of the Toyota, along with her two 12-year-old juvenile passengers, all of whom were properly restrained with seatbelts, sustained injuries as a result of the crash. They were swiftly taken to the hospital for treatment of their non-life-threatening injuries.
At this time, the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is still ongoing.
