Accident – Death – Obituary News :
Virginia State Police are currently investigating a fatal car accident that occurred on Saturday afternoon at approximately 3:45 p.m. on Route 122 in Franklin County. The incident involved a 2014 Chrysler 200 and a 2016 Toyota Tundra.
According to investigators, the Chrysler was travelling north on Route 122 when it veered across the center-line and collided head-on with the Toyota Tundra. The driver of the Chrysler has been identified as 26-year-old Austin Lee Lawhorn from Moneta.
Tragically, Lawhorn, who was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, a 38-year-old woman, and two 12-year-old passengers were also involved in the collision.
Fortunately, the occupants of the Toyota sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were promptly transported to the hospital for further medical evaluation. It is worth noting that all three individuals in the Toyota were wearing their seatbelts, which likely contributed to their survival.
The circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation as authorities work to determine the cause of the tragic collision. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of those affected by this devastating incident.
