A tragic incident occurred on Saturday night in St. Clair Township, resulting in the death of a 39-year-old woman. The victim has been identified as Ashley Pennington, a resident of Clarksville, Ohio.
The Butler County coroner released a statement on Monday, revealing that Pennington lost her life while riding a motorcycle on North Third Street. The cause of death was determined to be multiple traumatic injuries, as stated in the coroner’s report.
Authorities were alerted to the crash at around 9:20 p.m. Deputies from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office rushed to the scene and discovered a motorcycle with two individuals on the ground. Tragically, Pennington was already deceased by the time they arrived. The other person on the motorcycle sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to UC Health West Chester Hospital for treatment.
Preliminary investigations by the sheriff’s office revealed that a deer had suddenly crossed the path of the motorcycle, leading to the fatal accident.
This incident marked the first of three fatal crashes that occurred in Butler County over the weekend. A driver lost their life in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Hanover Township early on Sunday, while another driver was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Ross Township late on Saturday. Additionally, early on Monday, another motorcyclist tragically lost their life in a crash on Ohio 63 in Monroe, marking the fourth fatal incident in the county.
