Three individuals have been apprehended by authorities in Akola, Maharashtra, for their alleged involvement in the rape of a 14-year-old girl. The incident took place in the city, where the victim was lured to a youth hostel under false pretences on June 7, as reported by Assistant Inspector Mahendra Shinde from the Civil Line police station.
The suspects have been identified as Ankush Wakhte (25), Anurag Chaudhary (20), and Deepak Madavi (25). The victim, who had left home on June 7 but failed to return, prompted her family to file a missing person report at the Civil Line police station.
Upon her return home on June 8, the young girl disclosed the traumatic experience to her family members. Subsequently, based on the family’s complaint, a case of gang rape was registered against the accused. They were arrested and charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act).
Following their arrest, the trio was presented before a local court, which remanded them to judicial custody in prison.
