(KRON) – Two individuals have been apprehended by the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office after engaging in a sideshow near a high school in unincorporated Redwood City.
At approximately 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, deputies from the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office were alerted to the presence of a sideshow at the intersection of Woodside Road and Alameda de las Pulgas, close to Woodside High School.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered a large crowd of spectators, with some individuals reportedly throwing objects at passing vehicles.
Given the location of the incident, both the Redwood City Police Department and the California Highway Patrol were summoned to the scene to assist.
Deputies observed two individuals attempting to leave the sideshow on foot. Upon approaching them, the suspects fled, prompting a pursuit on foot that culminated at the ARCO gas station near Woodside Road and Santa Clara Avenue. One of the suspects attempted to flee by entering a vehicle.
The two suspects have been identified as 23-year-old Waldemar A. Pop and 22-year-old Jesus Gress-Ramirez, both residents of San Francisco.
Pop and Gress-Ramirez were subsequently arrested and taken into custody at the Maguire Correctional Facility on charges of resisting, delaying, or obstructing an officer in the performance of their duties.
