Delhi Police Apprehend Man Linked to 15 Criminal Cases
The Delhi Police have successfully arrested a man wanted in connection with 15 criminal cases, including murder, robbery, and automobile theft. The accused, known as Rajan alias Chhota Rajan (not to be confused with the infamous underworld figure), was taken into custody following his involvement in a mobile snatching incident.
On June 5, a complaint was filed by Kaushal, a resident of Seelampur, at the Sarai Rohilla police station. He reported that two individuals on a bike snatched his iPhone 15 while he was traveling in an e-rickshaw near Badi Masjid in the Inderlok area around 8:30 am. The suspects then fled towards Zakhira Underpass, prompting the filing of an FIR under sections 379, 356, and 34 of the IPC.
DCP North Manoj Kumar Meena revealed that a special team was assembled to track down the suspects, with intensive patrolling efforts focused on the area where the crime took place.
He stated, “CCTV footage helped identify the suspects who were seen using a Yamaha R-15 Motorcycle, with one of them being linked to several other snatching incidents in Janakpuri, Keshavpuram, and Mukherjee Nagar.”
Further investigations led to the identification of the bike’s rider as Himanshu and the pillion rider as Deepanshu alias Mohit. Acting on a tip-off received on June 12, the police conducted a raid at Chauki No.2 in Shakti Nagar and successfully apprehended Deepanshu, a 23-year-old resident of JJ Colony Wazirpur.
During questioning, Deepanshu admitted to his involvement in the crime and revealed that the motorcycle used in the incident belonged to Chhota Rajan, while the snatched mobile phone was in possession of Himanshu.
“Following this crucial information, the police conducted further raids and managed to arrest Rajan from Nagiya Park in Shakti Nagar later that day,” said DCP Meena.
