The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting an investigation into a heartbreaking drowning incident that occurred late Saturday night at the picturesque Jordan Lake Wildlife area in North Carolina.
Emergency responders were swiftly dispatched to the scene shortly before 11:45 p.m. following reports of a potential drowning. The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Pradip Kumar Bhujel, hailing from Charlotte.
Bhujel had been enjoying a fishing excursion at Jordan Lake with a group of friends when tragedy struck. Eyewitnesses recounted the harrowing moment when Bhujel waded into the water and suddenly vanished from sight.
Upon their arrival, a multi-agency team comprising the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, Chatham County Emergency Management, North Chatham Volunteer Fire Department, FirstHealth EMS, and the Medical Examiner’s Office, immediately commenced a search operation in the area where Bhujel was last seen.
Tragically, Bhujel’s lifeless body was discovered and he was pronounced deceased at the scene. Sheriff Mike Roberson expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and friends of the young man, stating, “We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Pradip Kumar Bhujel. Our team is thoroughly investigating the incident to understand the circumstances that led to this tragic event.”
The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Medical Examiner’s Office, is diligently probing the circumstances surrounding the drowning to unravel the sequence of events that culminated in this devastating loss.
