An alarming incident unfolded in Oakland County, Michigan, on Saturday evening when a gunman opened fire in a public park, leaving multiple victims in his wake. The harrowing event took place around 5 p.m. (2100 GMT) as a “random” gunman emerged from a vehicle and unleashed a barrage of 28 gunshots from a handgun, as revealed by Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard during a press conference.

Sheriff Bouchard disclosed that there were “nine, maybe 10, victims of varying kinds of injuries,” with individuals of various ages caught in the crossfire. Shockingly, the youngest victim identified was just eight years old, underscoring the indiscriminate nature of the attack.

Following the shooting spree, the suspect was swiftly apprehended in a house located half a mile from the park. Law enforcement officers recovered a 9-millimeter handgun and three magazines at the scene, evidencing the gravity of the situation.
