The incident took place on a Saturday afternoon in a plaza parking lot near Birchmount Road and Glendower Circuit, just south of Finch Avenue East. Reports suggest that the shooting occurred in front of a convenience store, based on the footage captured at the scene.

Toronto police responded to multiple calls reporting the shooting shortly before 2 p.m. on the fateful day. According to their investigation, an altercation escalated, resulting in the fatal shooting of a male individual. Shockingly, two perpetrators were involved in the incident, with one fleeing the scene on foot and the other making a getaway in a white-coloured SUV.

The victim, identified as 16-year-old Kayelin Rider-Downey from Toronto, succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to a nearby hospital. This tragic incident marks the 37th homicide in Toronto this year, highlighting the urgency to address escalating violence in the city.

The first suspect is described as a Black male wearing a red hat and shirt, while the second suspect, also a Black male, was last seen in a black hoodie.
