A resident of Joliet, a town in the western suburbs of Illinois, has been arrested and charged in connection with a tragic incident that occurred earlier this month. John Hernandez, aged 22, stands accused of fatally shooting one man and injuring two others at a residence in the 400 block of Krakar Avenue on June 1.

According to reports from law enforcement officials, the shooting incident took place inside the living room of the property, with the victims being struck by gunfire originating from outside the premises. An investigation at the scene revealed the presence of over 25 spent shell casings, indicating the intensity of the attack.

The deceased victim has been identified as 23-year-old Fernando Contreras, while a 20-year-old man sustained four gunshot wounds and was transported to Silver Cross Hospital by acquaintances. Fortunately, he is reported to be in stable condition. Additionally, a 27-year-old man suffered a grazing head wound from the gunfire and received medical treatment at the same hospital before being discharged.

Hernandez was apprehended by police officers on a Saturday morning at his residence on Campbell Street, following the issuance of a search warrant. Subsequently, he was formally charged with first-degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm in relation to the violent incident.
