The incident unfolded in the early hours of Saturday morning when law enforcement officials were called to the 800 block of W. Cottonwood Cir following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered two victims who had been caught up in the violent encounter.
The first victim, identified as Jose Andres Abrego, a 30-year-old resident of Anaheim, succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. The second victim, who had suffered stab wounds, is currently in stable condition and is expected to recover from the attack.
Arrest and Booking
Police swiftly identified the suspect as 24-year-old Jannett Cureno. Following the incident, Cureno allegedly attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by law enforcement officers around 1 p.m. the same day. She was subsequently booked into the Anaheim Detention Facility on charges of murder. Bail for Cureno has been set at $1 million as the investigation continues.
