Hla Oo : “Milwaukee Fatal Shooting: Man Charged with Homicide”

MILWAUKEE – A resident of Milwaukee has been formally charged with first-degree intentional homicide in connection with a tragic incident that occurred on June 8th.

The accused, identified as 32-year-old Hla Oo, allegedly committed the heinous act of taking the life of Joseph Watkins in the vicinity of 27th and State.

According to prosecutors, surveillance footage captured the fatal moment when Watkins, aged 35, was gunned down on a street corner at approximately 7 p.m. that fateful Saturday evening.

The video evidence depicted a confrontation between two individuals at the street corner, culminating in Watkins shoving the other man before being shot by him.

Following the shooting, an additional individual, later identified as Oo, was seen entering a black Honda Pilot with another person and fleeing the scene. Tragically, Watkins succumbed to his injuries on the sidewalk.

Law enforcement officers conducted an investigation that led them to a vehicle abandoned at the site of the shooting. The vehicle was traced to an address in close proximity to 45th and Lisbon, where the black Honda Pilot was discovered parked behind a residential property.

Court documents revealed that a witness recounted a confrontation between the shooter and Watkins over cigarettes while the witness was attending to the perpetrator’s vehicle at 27th and State.
