Ratlam (MP): The National Security Act (NSA) has been invoked against four individuals accused of throwing the severed head of a cow on a temple premises in Jaora town, Madhya Pradesh, according to a police official.

On Friday, two individuals on motorcycles allegedly threw the bovine’s body parts on the temple premises in Jaora town, leading to tension in the area, officials reported.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Manoj Kumar Singh informed reporters that the four accused have been arrested under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for hurting religious sentiments and other offences.

Additional Superintendent of Police Rakesh Khakha stated that the NSA provisions have been invoked against the four accused, namely Salman Mevati (24), Shakir Qureshi (19), Noshad Qureshi (40), and Shahrukh Sattar (25).

“Mevati and Qureshi were apprehended on Friday, while Noshad and Sattar were taken into custody on Thursday. Noshad has a criminal record with 20 cases against him and has previously been expelled from the district,” Khakha said.

“The incident aimed to disrupt the peace and harmony of the area. However, prompt actions prevented any escalation. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav instructed the police and administration to take strict measures,” Singh added.

Local administration demolished illegal portions of the houses belonging to the accused individuals, according to police reports.

Following the incident on Friday, several Hindu groups staged a protest and called for a bandh in Jaora town.

A complaint was lodged by a person named Gaurav Puri Goswami in connection with the incident.

Security has been heightened in the town in response to the incident, and Jaora’s Shahar Qazi Hafiz Bhuru issued a letter urging the public to maintain peace and harmony.
