A dramatic incident unfolded in South Seattle as a bikini-clad woman, identified as 23-year-old Emma Lee, owner of ‘Taste of Heaven Espresso’, was captured on CCTV striking a man’s car windshield with a hammer following an argument between the two on June 11.
The video footage, which quickly went viral on social media, shows the man throwing his coffee at the barista before she retaliates by damaging his vehicle.
Argument over coffee price escalates
The altercation reportedly began over the price of a coffee and a bottle of water that the man had purchased from the cafe. The dispute quickly escalated, leading to the violent confrontation that was caught on camera.
Police were called to the scene and launched an investigation into the incident following the public outrage sparked by the video.
Barista claims self-defense
In a social media post, Emma Lee defended her actions, stating that the customer had a history of aggressive behavior towards her. She maintained that the customer became physically violent for the first time during this encounter.
Lee explained that the customer had ordered a 32-ounce coffee and a 24-ounce water, amounting to approximately $22. However, the man refused to pay the full amount, leading to the altercation.
She asserted her right to protect her property and stated that she acted in self-defense. Lee expressed readiness to face any legal consequences for her actions.
Standing by her actions
Despite the controversy surrounding the incident, Emma Lee stood by her actions and emphasised that the majority of customers she encounters are respectful and kind. However, she highlighted the occasional instances of verbal and physical aggression that she and her colleagues face.
She concluded by stating that she was prepared to face any legal repercussions and reiterated her commitment to standing up for herself and her business.
