Colorado Springs, Colo. (KKTV) – A man is currently in police custody following a dramatic carjacking incident that ended with him crashing the stolen vehicle into a Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) cruiser.

The incident unfolded on Saturday afternoon in the vicinity of Uintah and 17th Street. The suspect reportedly assaulted the victim and forcefully took their vehicle, setting off a chain of events that led to a collision with law enforcement.

Authorities were able to track the stolen car approximately 5.5 miles away, ultimately locating it in the area of Pikes Peak Avenue and South Claremont Street. As officers approached the vehicle, the suspect attempted to flee the scene by driving away.

His escape attempt proved unsuccessful as he collided with a CSPD cruiser and subsequently crashed into a nearby tree. The suspect then made a desperate attempt to flee on foot but was swiftly apprehended by law enforcement officers.

The stolen vehicle was successfully returned to the victim, and the suspect, identified as 36-year-old Brandon Henn, was taken into custody and transported to the El Paso County jail.

Fortunately, the victim sustained only minor injuries during the carjacking incident, according to police reports.
