Mumbai Police have apprehended a 25-year-old man from Rajasthan on charges of criminal intimidation related to a video threatening Bollywood actor Salman Khan. The suspect, identified as Banwarilal Laturlal Gujar from Bundi, allegedly posted a video on his YouTube channel where he declared his intention to harm Khan. In the video, he claimed to have the support of gang members and vowed to take action against the actor for not apologizing.
The video, reportedly filmed on a highway in Rajasthan, caught the attention of authorities due to its threatening nature. A team was dispatched to Rajasthan to investigate the matter, leading to the arrest of Gujar. The case has been registered at a cyber police station in Mumbai, and further inquiries are ongoing.
According to a police official, “We are currently looking into Gujar’s background to determine if he has any prior criminal history. He has been charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 506(2) for criminal intimidation, as well as provisions of the Information Technology (IT) Act.”
This arrest follows a recent incident where shots were fired outside Khan’s residence in Bandra. Six individuals were detained in connection with that case, with one of them, Anuj Thapan, tragically taking his own life while in police custody.
Additionally, Navi Mumbai Police have apprehended five individuals, including a suspected member of criminal gangs linked to Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar, in a separate plot targeting Khan. It was revealed that these individuals had conducted surveillance on Khan’s properties and filming locations.
Authorities are now seeking custody of Lawrence Bishnoi, currently incarcerated in Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Central Prison, in connection with the shooting incident. Bishnoi’s brother Anmol, believed to be residing in Canada, is also wanted for questioning in connection with the case.
As the investigation continues, Mumbai Police are working diligently to ensure the safety and security of Salman Khan and bring those responsible for the threats to justice.
