Authorities in Phoenix are currently investigating the tragic death of a 2-year-old boy who was discovered in a backyard jacuzzi on Saturday. The incident took place in a residence located near 59th Avenue and Thomas Road, where officers and fire personnel responded to a distress call at approximately 1:15 p.m.
Upon arrival, emergency responders found the child’s family administering CPR to the young boy, identified as Axiel Marquez. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Sgt. Mayra Reeson of the Phoenix Police Department stated that the investigation into the incident is ongoing. At this stage, detectives believe it was a tragic accident, with no evidence pointing to any foul play.
