A 43-year-old man from Alabama driving a Toyota Prius has been arrested and charged with OUI resulting in death and manslaughter following a fatal crash in Bethel, Maine. The incident, which occurred on Saturday evening, claimed the life of a motorcyclist from New Hampshire.
Fatal Crash Details
The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office reported that the crash took place in the area of Walkers Mill Road when a 2014 Honda CTX 700 motorcycle collided with a 2014 Toyota Prius. The motorcycle, driven by 61-year-old David Roy of Berlin, New Hampshire, was traveling northbound on Walkers Mill Road when the Prius, driven by Arin Palmer of Hoover, Alabama, pulled out of a driveway and into its path.
Tragically, Roy was killed in the crash. Palmer, the driver of the Prius, was uninjured in the incident. Both individuals were alone in their vehicles at the time of the collision.
Arrest and Charges
Following the crash, Palmer was arrested by authorities and charged with OUI resulting in death and manslaughter. He was subsequently taken to the Oxford County Jail for further processing.
Continuing Investigation
The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office has announced that the road where the crash occurred will remain closed as officials continue their investigation into the incident. More details are expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
