Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A man has been found guilty of indecent exposure at a Surrey mall two years after claiming his genitals accidentally slipped out of his shorts. Thomas Charles Cooper was convicted on May 15, 2024, with Judge Jennifer Lopes describing his evidence as \”rehearsed,\” \”fanciful\” and \”unreliable.\”

The incident took place at Guildford Shopping Centre on July 4, 2022, when two women reported that a man, later identified as Cooper, exposed himself to them. CCTV footage from the mall showed Cooper looking at his crotch as he approached a bench, pulling up the leg of his shorts before sitting down, and repeatedly looking at his crotch area while seated.

Witnesses testified that they saw Cooper seated on a couch with his penis outside of his shorts, with one witness stating that he looked directly at her. Security was called after he was seen exposed a second time on a different couch.

During the trial, Cooper, a 53-year-old married man and owner/operator of a bowling alley, claimed that his genitals accidentally slipped out of his shorts. He stated that he changed into new shorts with a mesh liner for exercise at the mall after work and denied intentionally exposing himself.

However, Judge Lopes found Cooper’s evidence to be unreliable, noting inconsistencies in his testimony. She concluded that he had changed his shorts to facilitate the indecent exposure and that it was unlikely that two accidental exposures occurred.

The identity of the witnesses is protected by a publication ban, and Cooper faces sentencing for the indecent act committed in a public place.
