High-Speed Collision Leads to Fatalities
Bengaluru: A high-speed accident on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway late Friday night resulted in the tragic deaths of two Bengaluru students and left one person injured.
Details of the Accident
The accident took place at Kapinaiahna Doddi, near Mayaganahalli, between 11:10 pm and 11:30 pm. An SUV carrying three individuals collided with the back of a moving lorry, resulting in a ghastly underride crash where the car slid underneath the heavy vehicle.
Victims and Accused
The driver of the SUV, identified as Suhas, a 22-year-old student, sustained minor injuries and is currently in stable condition. However, his passengers, Vishwa (22) and Surya (18), tragically lost their lives in the impact. The trio were returning to Bengaluru from Mysuru and were residents of Doddabommasandra in north Bengaluru.
The driver of the lorry, a man believed to be around 45 years old, has been named as the accused in the case. Although he initially fled the scene, he was later apprehended by the Ramanagara traffic police.
Investigation and Speed Assessment
The ongoing investigation will determine if Suhas should also be considered as an accused in the incident. The authorities have not yet ascertained the exact speed at which the car was travelling, but they have emphasized that it exceeded the prescribed speed limit.
Authorities conducted alcohol testing on the car driver, with the results returning negative, indicating that alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
