Gurgaon: A tragic accident occurred on Wednesday night in Gurgaon, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to four others. The incident took place at Sector 83 crossing when a van collided with a truck and crashed into an iron pillar by the road.
The truck driver, identified as Rakesh Kumar, reported that he was returning to Jhajjar after completing a delivery in Sector 62. According to Kumar’s statement to the police, a speeding van suddenly appeared from the right at Sector 83 crossing around 1 am. In an attempt to avoid a collision, Kumar steered the truck to the left. However, the van grazed the right side of his vehicle and ultimately crashed into an iron pillar on the roadside, causing severe injuries to its occupants.
Upon receiving the distress call, a police team led by ASI Ashok promptly arrived at the scene. They managed to rescue the five individuals trapped inside the mangled van and swiftly transported them to Aarvy Hospital in Sector 90, along with the injured truck driver.
While Kumar was initially admitted to Aarvy Hospital, he was later transferred to PGI Rohtak by his family for further medical treatment. Tragically, an unidentified woman who was in the van succumbed to her injuries. The other injured individuals, identified as Sobhit, Rajesh, Rakesh Kumar, and Saurabh, are currently undergoing medical treatment. Saurabh’s injuries were deemed severe, leading to his referral to Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi for specialized care.
Following the incident, a case was registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code at Kherki Daula police station on Thursday. The sections include 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by an act endangering life), 338 (causing grievous hurt by an act endangering life), 304A (death by negligence), and 427 (mischief causing damage). The authorities are conducting further investigations to determine the cause of the accident.
