Purti Gupta : Parents Kill Daughter for Rs 600 in UP

Shahjahanpur: A harrowing incident has come to light in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, where a 24-year-old woman was brutally killed by her own parents over a mere sum of £600. The tragic event unfolded on Saturday, prompting the swift arrest of the mother and father of the victim as the authorities launch an investigation into the heinous crime. The victim, identified as Purti Gupta, was discovered lifeless in her residence, her throat slashed with a sharp object, sending shockwaves through the community.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashok Kumar Meena disclosed that the victim, a resident of Bhardwaji colony in the Kotwali police station jurisdiction, met a gruesome end within the confines of her own home on Thursday. The police swiftly sprang into action, securing the suspects and transferring the victim’s body to the local hospital for post-mortem analysis.

Authorities Pledge to Pursue Justice

Initial investigations have indicated that the victim fell prey to her own parents’ violent impulses, who reportedly took her life in a fit of rage. When law enforcement officers arrived at the scene following a distress call, the family members initially claimed ignorance, attributing the tragedy to an unknown assailant. Undeterred, the police deployed multiple teams to probe the matter, leading to the apprehension of the victim’s father, Sanjay Gupta, and mother, Vandana Gupta.

During questioning, the accused parents confessed to the chilling crime, revealing that the fatal altercation stemmed from a financial dispute. Allegedly, the victim had sold a ring to cover household expenses, leading her father to request repayment of a £600 loan. Tragically, the victim’s refusal to comply with her father’s demand reportedly triggered the fatal attack, as he fatally wounded her while she slept.

Compounding the horror, the victim’s mother purportedly aided in concealing the crime scene and disposing of evidence in a bid to shield her husband from culpability. The authorities have vowed to pursue justice relentlessly, assuring the community that the perpetrators will face the full force of the law.
