Accident – Death – Obituary News : Kentucky State Police have made a grim discovery during their search for missing 8-month-old Miya Rudd. The remains found on Friday at the family residence are believed to belong to the infant girl, according to a statement from the agency.
The decomposing body of an infant, consistent with Miya Rudd, was located by Kentucky State Police detectives at 1:15 pm. The hidden body was found in a corner of the home, which was described as being full of debris. Trooper Corey King shared this information with NBC affiliate WFIE of nearby Evansville, Indiana, stating, “Not the results we wanted, but really expected.”

The parents of the missing infant, Tesla Tucker, 29, and Cage Rudd, 30, along with paternal grandparents Billie J. Smith, 49, and Ricky J. Smith, 56, were arrested earlier in June on drug charges. All individuals, except for Timothy L. Roach, are from Reynolds Station, approximately 90 miles southwest of Louisville. Roach, on the other hand, hails from Owensboro, around 25 miles west of Reynolds Station.
It remains unclear whether legal representation has been secured for the accused individuals. The public defender for the region did not respond to requests for comment.
During the investigation for Miya Rudd, law enforcement officials discovered drugs, including fentanyl-containing pills, at a Motel 6 where her parents were located. The couple also faced allegations of child abandonment.
Grandmother Billie J. Smith, who had an active warrant related to a domestic incident, was contacted as part of the investigation. Roach, who was at her residence, allegedly discarded drugs as police arrived.
Miya’s maternal grandparents, Taletha and David Tucker, who have been caring for her siblings, were arrested based on warrants. They were initially detained at Daviess County Detention Center in Owensboro.
A man who had been residing with Miya’s parents, Brodie C. Payne, 28, was charged with drug trafficking, including methamphetamine. He was already in custody for other drug-related charges from May.
State police had used cadaver dogs to search the woods near Miya’s home for the missing girl. It was revealed that three of her siblings had been removed from her home due to drug allegations. Miya’s umbilical cord had tested positive for methamphetamine shortly after birth.
Investigators were told by a family member that Miya was last seen at the end of April. Her parents initially claimed that she had been removed by the state Cabinet for Health and Family Services, but further investigation proved otherwise.
