In a statement released by the Kentucky State Police, detectives confirmed that they had located an infant’s body consistent with Miya Rudd at 1:15 pm. The body was found in a decomposing state in a corner of the home, which was reportedly full of debris. Trooper Corey King informed NBC affiliate WFIE of nearby Evansville, Indiana that while the results were not what they had hoped for, they were unfortunately expected.

Preliminary findings from a medical examiner, including possible identification, are anticipated to be released as soon as Saturday. With this discovery, the search for Miya Rudd now transitions into a criminal investigation.

The individuals arrested in connection with this case include Miya’s parents, Tesla Tucker, 29, and Cage Rudd, 30, as well as paternal grandparents Billie J. Smith, 49, and Ricky J. Smith, 56. A fifth person, identified as Timothy L. Roach, was also taken into custody on drug charges. All individuals, except Roach, are from Reynolds Station, approximately 90 miles southwest of Louisville. Roach hails from Owensboro, about 25 miles west of Reynolds Station.

It remains unclear if legal counsel has been retained for the accused individuals. The public defender for the region did not respond to requests for comment.

During the investigation for Miya, authorities discovered drugs, including pills containing fentanyl, at a Motel 6 where her parents were located. The couple also faced allegations of child abandonment. Grandmother Billie J. Smith had an active warrant related to a domestic incident, while Roach was arrested for allegedly tossing drugs as police arrived at her residence.

In a separate development, Miya’s maternal grandparents, Taletha and David Tucker, were arrested on warrants. The nature of these warrants was not specified. They were initially booked into Daviess County Detention Center in Owensboro.

State police also charged Brodie C. Payne, a man who had been residing with Miya’s parents, with drug trafficking, including methamphetamine. Payne was already in custody on previous drug charges.

State police used cadaver dogs to search for Miya in the woods near her home. The child welfare authorities had removed three of Miya’s siblings due to drug allegations and were planning to do the same with Miya before she disappeared. It was revealed that Miya’s umbilical cord had tested positive for methamphetamine shortly after her birth.

This tragic story underscores the importance of addressing drug-related issues and child welfare concerns in our communities. The search for answers continues as investigators work diligently to uncover the truth behind Miya Rudd’s disappearance..
