Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A man in American Falls has been charged after allegedly making sexual comments towards a young girl and then pulling a gun on multiple men who confronted him. John David Morgan, 50, is facing serious charges including burglary and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, as well as misdemeanours for disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, and carrying a concealed weapon.

The incident occurred on the evening of June 4, when Soda Spring police responded to reports of an intoxicated man threatening people with a gun. According to court records, Morgan had allegedly made inappropriate comments towards a 7-year-old girl before pulling a gun on the girl’s father when confronted.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found Morgan stumbling into his motel room, with a Ruger rifle left outside near the door. Officers approached with caution, instructing Morgan to exit the room with his hands raised. Despite his intoxicated state, Morgan was taken into custody without further incident.

During the investigation, officers discovered a single-shot shotgun and a Colt pistol inside Morgan’s truck. While Morgan denied threatening anyone with a gun, he admitted to pulling a gun during an argument. He also made derogatory comments about the victims’ race, claiming they were “just Mexicans”.

Statements from the victims revealed that Morgan had engaged in inappropriate behaviour towards the young girl and had threatened multiple men with a gun. One victim described how Morgan had tried to choke him before putting a gun to his head and threatening to shoot him.

Following the incident, Morgan was trespassed from the motel and taken to Caribou County Jail where he remains in custody. Despite the charges, Morgan is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. If convicted, he could face up to 45 years in prison.

Morgan is scheduled to appear before Magistrate Judge David Cousin for a preliminary hearing on June 28. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
