Israel initiated an air and ground offensive in Gaza following a cross-border attack by Hamas and other militants on October 7, which resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,200 individuals and the abduction of 250 others. The offensive has claimed the lives of over 37,000 Palestinians, according to local health authorities.
