Srinagar, June 15: A cook and a child sustained burn injuries in a gas cylinder explosion at Middle School Jafarpora Marhama in Anantnag district, south Kashmir, on Saturday.

According to an official from the Kashmir Scroll news agency, the incident occurred at the school, resulting in injuries to a 50-year-old woman named Hajira, who worked as a cook at the school, and a four-year-old boy named Zian, son of Mohd Ashraf.

Both victims were initially taken to SDH Bijbehara for medical treatment and were later referred to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar for further care.

The explosion was reportedly caused by a gas leak from a cylinder, leading to a fire that was eventually brought under control by emergency responders.

The local police have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause of the explosion and to prevent similar accidents in the future.
