Man from Round Lake Beach dies following Gurnee accident.

A tragic incident occurred on May 23 in Gurnee, where a Round Lake Beach man was involved in a serious crash that ultimately led to his untimely death, as confirmed by the police.
The Gurnee Police and Gurnee Fire Departments were called to the scene at around 7:20 p.m. on May 23 following reports of a collision between a Toyota SUV and a motorcycle at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Spruce Street. The motorcycle rider, a 57-year-old Round Lake Beach resident, was found unconscious with severe injuries and was immediately rushed to Advocate Condell Medical Center for treatment.
Due to the severity of the crash, the Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) of Lake County was brought in to aid in the investigation. Initial findings revealed that the Toyota was heading east on Grand Avenue and attempted to make a left turn into a parking lot on the north side of the street after passing Dilley’s Road. Unfortunately, the Toyota collided with the motorcycle, which was travelling west on Grand Avenue in the far-right lane.
Tragically, on June 9, the Lake County Coroner’s Office received notification from medical staff at Advocate Condell Medical Center that despite all efforts, the motorcycle rider, identified as Frank Rodriguez from Round Lake Beach, had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead in the Intensive Care Unit. The preliminary investigation by the coroner’s office indicated that Rodriguez had passed away due to blunt force injuries sustained in the crash.
The Gurnee Police Department and MCAT are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash to determine the circumstances that led to this tragic loss of life.
