Thane: A 23-year-old man has been taken into custody for the brutal killing of a 15-year-old boy who caught him sniffing a drug solution at a hillock near Ambedkarpada in Mumbra.
Authorities have disclosed that the suspect, identified as Faiz Malim from Kausa, is accused of the heinous crime against Mehtab Mansuri, a resident of Devripada in the Srilanka locality of Mumbra. The tragic incident unfolded when the minor boy went missing after he left home, prompting his parents to file a kidnapping report at the Mumbra police station.
The Mumbra police launched an extensive investigation into the matter and managed to track down the culprit with the help of CCTV camera footage. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-1), Subhash Burse, confirmed that Faiz Malim was initially detained and later confessed to the murder.
According to police reports, the fatal confrontation occurred when Mehtab stumbled upon Faiz sniffing whitener on the hillock. In response to the boy’s threat of informing his parents, Faiz allegedly reacted with violence, first strangling Mehtab before delivering fatal blows with a stone.
Law enforcement officials are actively pursuing the case and have presented the accused in court, where he has been remanded to police custody for further interrogation and legal proceedings.
