CROWN HEIGHTS (WABC) — Authorities have apprehended a suspect accused of robbing two children in Brooklyn.
The incident took place in the Crown Heights neighbourhood on June 7th.
The individual in question has been identified as 24-year-old Demba Ba, a resident of Brooklyn.
Surveillance footage captured Ba approaching a 10-year-old boy and his 7-year-old sister, demanding money from them.
The suspect proceeded to snatch the money from the boy before fleeing down Utica Avenue.
The boy’s father spotted Ba shortly after the incident and managed to identify him based on his son’s description.
He promptly took a photo of Ba and shared it with law enforcement.
According to police officials, Ba has a lengthy history of arrests and is presently on probation for robbery.
Furthermore, Ba was arrested as recently as June 4th on similar charges.
Ba is now facing multiple charges, including petit larceny, harassment in the second degree, and acting in a manner injurious to a child.
