An incident at the San Bernardino County jail has shocked authorities and residents alike, as an inmate attempted to stab another inmate and a sheriff’s deputy with a makeshift knife. The inmate, identified as Christopher Lommie Jackson, allegedly crafted the weapon while incarcerated at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga.

The altercation took place on Tuesday afternoon, with Jackson targeting a 28-year-old inmate with the jail-made metal knife. When deputies intervened, Jackson then turned his focus on a 45-year-old deputy, knocking him to the ground in a violent attack. Fortunately, other deputies were able to intervene and prevent further harm.

Video footage captured by the Sheriff’s Department shows the harrowing moment when Jackson lunged towards the deputy with the knife in hand, resulting in a struggle that ended with the deputy sustaining moderate injuries to his face. The deputy was later hospitalized and subsequently released, while the condition of the other inmate involved in the incident remains unknown.
