A tragic incident occurred in Sullivan County early Friday morning, resulting in the death of a local man. The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office reported that the victim of the single-vehicle crash was identified as Cary Brett Wayman, a 58-year-old resident of Sullivan. Wayman tragically lost his life at the scene of the accident, which took place at the intersection of Indiana 54 and Section Street.
According to initial reports from the Sheriff’s Office, the fatal crash occurred around 2 a.m. The investigation revealed that Wayman, who was travelling westbound on Indiana 54, failed to stop at the intersection with Section Street. Instead of turning at the “T” junction, his vehicle continued straight ahead, eventually colliding with a tree.
Sheriff Jason Bobbitt confirmed that the incident is currently under investigation.
