In a heartbreaking turn of events, an 82-year-old woman named Biane Burns from Brownsburg has tragically passed away following a serious car crash in Elkhart County late last month. The incident took place at the intersection of State Road 15 and County Road 42 on the morning of May 31.
Details of the Accident
According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal crash occurred when a Chevy Silverado was travelling north on State Road 15. At the same time, a Honda Civic attempted to make a left turn onto the southbound lane of State Road 15 but failed to yield the right of way to the oncoming Silverado. The collision between the two vehicles resulted in injuries to multiple occupants.
Victims of the Crash
Among those injured in the accident were four individuals who were inside the Honda Civic at the time of the collision. The driver of the Civic and three passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries. Tragically, Biane Burns, one of the passengers, suffered a severe head injury and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead on Thursday.
Additionally, the driver of the Chevy Silverado and one of its passengers also suffered injuries in the crash and received medical attention.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic accident to determine the exact cause and factors involved. The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation process.
