In a devastating incident on Friday night in Mesa, a 23-year-old man lost his life in a motorcycle crash, while two others sustained injuries. The Mesa police received a distress call just after 9:45 p.m. reporting a serious collision near Dobson Road and Southern Avenue.

Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered that a car and a motorcycle had been involved in the tragic crash. The motorcycle rider, identified as Alex Calderon, was immediately rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Tragically, Calderon succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the hospital.

There were two individuals inside the car at the time of the collision. Both occupants were also taken to the hospital, albeit with minor injuries. Fortunately, they have since been discharged from medical care.

Speeding Motorcycle Collides with Car

According to the preliminary investigation conducted by the Mesa police, it is believed that Calderon was travelling west on Southern Avenue at a high speed when the tragic crash occurred. The motorcycle collided with the car, which was waiting at a traffic light and had initiated a left turn.

The impact between the motorcycle and the car was severe, resulting in fatal injuries to Calderon and causing injuries to the occupants of the car. As part of standard procedure, the driver of the Mazda was tested for impairment and processed for driving under the influence (DUI). The authorities did not specify whether impairment played a role in the collision.
