(KRON) – An American Canyon resident was taken into custody on weapon-related charges following a routine traffic stop conducted by the Fairfield Police Department.
At 12:09 a.m. on Friday, officers from the Fairfield Police Department pulled over a vehicle on the 3000 block of Travis Boulevard for having an expired registration tab. During the stop, officers detected a strong smell of “burnt marijuana” emanating from the vehicle. Upon further inspection, they found a tied-off bag of marijuana and loose tobacco packaging inside the car.
After conducting a search of the vehicle, officers discovered a loaded handgun. The suspect informed the police that he had acquired the firearm in Vallejo.
The individual behind the wheel was identified as a 22-year-old resident of American Canyon.
Subsequently, the suspect was placed under arrest and taken to Solano County Jail on multiple charges related to weapons possession, including carrying a loaded firearm.
