The arrest took place following a routine traffic stop along Interstate 90 in Columbia County.

The official press release from the New York State Police detailed the events that unfolded at around 5:15 pm when State Police officers pulled over a Dodge Durango for violations of the vehicle and traffic law. The driver, identified as 37-year-old Stepha Desronvil from Union, New Jersey, and the passenger, identified as 27-year-old Rachael Dittmer from Morristown, New Jersey, were found in possession of a variety of narcotics.

During the search of the vehicle, officers discovered a substantial amount of drugs, including 34 grams of cocaine, 5.4 grams of crack-cocaine, 6 grams of methamphetamine, 4.3 grams of heroin, 3.2 grams of fentanyl, 2.5 grams of dextroamphetamine, 7.2 grams of oxycodone, and 6.9 grams of Xanax.

Following the discovery of the narcotics, both Desronvil and Dittmer were placed under arrest. They were charged with multiple counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, ranging from class B to class D felonies. After the arrest, both suspects were brought before the town of Claverack Court. Dittmer was released on her own recognizance, while Desronvil was remanded to the Columbia County Jail.
