GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) — Goldsboro Police Department announced on Thursday that a second suspect has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a 17-year-old boy that occurred five months ago. 18-year-old Samuel L. Thompson, a resident of Goldsboro, was identified as the additional suspect in the tragic incident that took place on Jan. 13.

Thompson was apprehended without any issues at approximately 3 p.m. on Thursday at the 900 block of Fairview Circle. He has been charged with first-degree murder in relation to the shooting.

This arrest comes after the previous arrest of 21-year-old Kenyatta Feronte Sutton for the same crime. Sutton was charged with first-degree murder in the case over a month ago. Goldsboro Police Department had stated during Sutton’s arrest that the investigation was ongoing and more arrests could potentially follow.

As reported previously, the 17-year-old victim was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds at the 900 block of N. Madison Ave on the fateful day of Jan. 13. He was promptly transported to UNC Health Wayne by EMS but was tragically pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Samuel L. Thompson is currently being held at the Wayne County Detention Center without bond. He is expected to make a court appearance on Friday to respond to the charges brought against him.
