The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office announced on Friday morning that a man wanted on multiple extradition warrants out of Indiana was found in Newfane, NY.

According to officials, the man, identified as 40-year-old Richard Baldwin from Wilson, was stopped by a deputy on Chestnut Road for driving with a headlight out. Baldwin falsely identified himself to the deputy.

Baldwin had four warrants out of Indiana, totaling six charges related to meth and vehicle theft. He was charged with false personation, unlicensed operation, and having no/inadequate headlight.

Additionally, Baldwin’s passenger, 37-year-old Michael Doxey Jr. from Lockport, was taken into custody on an active bench warrant accusing him of petit larceny, resisting arrest, and obstruction of governmental administration.

Both Baldwin and Doxey were remanded to the Niagara County Correctional Facility. Baldwin is awaiting extradition, while Doxey is awaiting further proceedings in Lockport and Clarence. Doxey also faces additional warrants relating to burglary, according to the sheriff’s office.

A third passenger in the vehicle was given a courtesy transport, and the vehicle was impounded by officials.
