HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WKRG) — The Hattiesburg Police Department has announced the arrest of three individuals in connection to the tragic shooting death of Southern Mississippi cornerback Marcus “MJ” Daniels Jr.
Arrests and Charges
According to a statement shared on Facebook by the HPD, the three individuals have been arrested and charged with capital murder. The arrests come following the discovery of Daniels’ lifeless body in his car on Tuesday night.
One of the arrested individuals is identified as 18-year-old Orlando May from Hattiesburg. The other two suspects, aged 17 and 16, cannot be named by News 5 due to their minor status.
Orlando May faces charges including capital murder, attempted armed carjacking, felony eluding, and grand larceny auto. The 17-year-old and 16-year-old suspects have also been charged with capital murder and attempted armed carjacking as adults.

The Hattiesburg police emphasised that the case is still under investigation despite the arrests that have been made. The authorities are working diligently to gather more information and evidence related to the tragic incident.
