Accident – Death – Obituary News :

SHIREHAM, Va. (TMX) – Shocking footage captures the moment a suspected intoxicated driver collided with a Virginia State Trooper’s patrol car, leading to a dramatic incident during a traffic stop in the early hours of Tuesday.

A dashboard camera video released on Wednesday by Virginia State Police depicts Trooper C. Aziz engaging in conversation with a driver, who is also believed to be under the influence, of a sedan that had parked in a travel lane in Fairfax County at approximately 3 a.m. on Tuesday.

The sedan can be observed straddling the line between the two right lanes, with a semi-truck coming to a halt in the right lane due to the sedan’s positioning.

Subsequently, a Jeep collides with the semi-truck, causing the trailer to spin and impact the trooper’s vehicle. The trooper’s car crashes into the stationary sedan, resulting in the trooper being knocked to the ground.

Fortunately, Aziz “remarkably, did not sustain any fractures,” according to state police.

The video shows her promptly getting back on her feet and communicating via her radio.

Despite this, state police have stated that she still faces a lengthy recovery process.

The Jeep driver, identified as 35-year-old Joanna Hatch, was taken into custody for driving under the influence of alcohol.

The sedan’s driver, 43-year-old Erica Bernard, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs, obstruction, possession of a Schedule 1 or 2 substance, refusal of a breathalyzer or blood test, and improperly stopping a vehicle on a highway.
